“If you want a talented, professional and creative photographer- give her a call. Truly one of a kind. She was so incredibly easy to work with. Great communication, very relaxed and insanely talented. I love the fact that she shoots with real film: the photos from our engagement session turned out more incredible than I could have imagined. I can't stop looking at them. I can't say enough wonderful things about her: 10/10, A++”

Why I Love Film Photography

Film photography is where it all started for me. From a young age, I was enamored with the process of shooting film. The anticipation of waiting for the developed images to come back felt like unwrapping a gift of memories. In the age of advanced technology in digital photography and editing, why would I still shoot film? If you think about it, why are developers making such an effort to create filters for your photos? A lot of those filters strive to emmulate the look of film. There’s something about a film image that draws you in, and makes you linger just a bit longer. Film photographs possess a timeless quality that transcends trends and technology. Film images are enduring, authentic, and nostalgic.

What makes film unique?

  • Film captures more detail in a photograph. You would think that digital would be more detailed because of its sensors and perfect pixels. Film is actually better at capturing highlights and shadows because of its organic nature. It doesn't have a digital sensor that's trying to read an image and produce the correct result. Film simply takes in the light and transposes what you see directly onto the negative.

  • Film offers a dynamic range of colors which can be noticed in the shadows and highlights of photographs. You will notice subtle coloring in these areas whereas in a digital image it will often look monochromatic or lacking depth of color. Film colors are more vibrant and offer richer tones which are visually more pleasing to look at.
